After high school there was a short dark period, but for now we will skip over that.

Moving In!
I moved in to Kutztown University’s Johnson Hall with more art supplies then clothes.
Jumping straight into college. Many people say that college is the best time of your life. I have to say, that it is certainly the launch pad! EVERYTHING, I have achieved in life, I attribute to the growth and development of my inner-self, while attending college. For my first two years I worked towards a Associates Degree from Luzerne County Community College, and transferred to Kutztown University to complete my bachelors degree. Beginning the educational challenge was the first time in my life I didn’t feel like I was an outsider looking in. My schoolmates in the design classes were JUST LIKE ME! We all looked completely different but I could feel that, their brains, were firing on the same wavelengths as mine. One of my roommates, was also an artist. She was so talented. She effortlessly completed assignments making it look like it took no effort at all. I on the other hand took a lot more time and doubted myself and sometimes wondered if I was worthy of being in such a great design school. Kutztown nurtured me to realize, I was way smarter then I ever gave myself credit. In my younger years I was extremely shy and had developed a bad habit of doubting my abilities which really limited me in every way. In college, I was able to identify that flaw and work to attack-a-task rather then avoid it. The faster you jump in and get started, the quicker you find the solution and implement it.
My passion was fine art, drawing, painting, and sculpting. My fear was… If I followed the path of a fine artist, I would be a starving artist, once i graduated. I was the first in my family to have the opportunity to go to college and I wanted to make sure the money spent, was spent wisely! Yes, I could follow my passion and become a fine artist, or maybe I should focus on becoming a Communication Design artist with the greater possibly of make a living from art. I wasn’t looking for super-wealth, but I’d like to at least make a living and be independent. My rational was that I can always do fine art on the side. Don’t get me wrong I love Communication Design, however, any artist will tell you. the major, most noticeable difference in the two, is that a fine artist is expressing themselves though art. A Commercial artist is expressing the ideas of others through a collaborative process. Both require creative ability, however, a commercial artist needs the ability to listen to and adapt to alternative solutions and criticisms.

Graduation Day!
One of the proudest moments of my life!
