Day 25…

Who thinks that sending a postcard, is the fastest way to disseminate information? To be clear, I didn’t design this, I just found it funny that he even puts his name on a pandemic.

Day 25 of self isolation. Wilson (aka my dog Bode) and I have settled on to our new normal. He seems to be handing isolation much better than I am. As long as his food bowl is full, and his nap schedule is not interrupted, he has accepted isolation with very little complaining.

I struggle each day, as the virus invades our world like ants on a discarded piece of candy. First one ant appears, and then another, and another, soon the once pristine piece of candy, now disintegrates in front of my eyes.

I watch the presidential briefings, and became more disenchanted, as each briefing, drifts further away from fact based guidance, to a platform of criticism and puzzling rants. They stand shoulder to shoulder, but yet tell us the importance of social distancing. This president, suggests wearing a mask but says he will never wear one. A trusted scientist, heath official or state governor would speak to the public on the gravity of the unfolding pandemic, and dire warning of possible souls lost if we ignore the Corona monster. The reality, one hundred or two hundred thousand Americans could lose their lives. Respirators are needed by the thousands, beyond any stockpiles ability. Yet the leadership is full of inaction, or late reactions.

The current President, who loves to put his name on everything, then gets on the mic and either 100% contradicts the experts or berates a reporter for asking a legitimate question. At a time when party difference should be put aside for the greater good, he is perpetuating that the opposing party is somehow responsible, exaggerating the need for a more serious response. I treading lightly, I was never a political or party line person, but this president’s disregard for the wellbeing of American lives is appalling and reckless. It is for that reason I now get my pandemic updates from more reliable sources. Sad to say, but this president has no regard for human lives, and was more focused on, the TV ratings, of the briefing. A briefing that could have been 5 to 10 minutes long, droned on for more than a hour. He touted all of the help he was providing to New York, America’s epicenter for the virus. Three days in a row he went on a tirade about how fast he was able to build a hospital in The Jacob Javits Conference Center. Yes it was needed, and yes they built it, but this virus moves so fast that I was looking for current informational updates, not a recap of the prior day or the day before that.

I gave up on the presidential briefings, our current president seems to be perpetuating his own fake news, and is now, sadly, considered a non credible source for Corona Virus information.

He is more focused on fans filling football stadiums than saving lives. A dire warning. Without responsible actions he may get his wish. The stadium will be filled with the soles of the hundreds of thousands of people that will lose their lives because of his inactions.

Governor Cuomo, and Dr Fausi are my sources, of what I consider to be the most current and reliable information. In a time of uncertainty, They have risen as leaders, with my health and well being, as their priority. I thank them and challenge this president to rise to their level, not drag them down to his.

My fear is that history will record this as the biggest failure of an American president, His constant flip flopping and inability to lead will cost lives and inevitably affect the length of time it will take to recover, both economically and emotionally. We will get through this, our lives and our views, may be different on the other side.

To those doing your best to help the world survive, I thank you. Your efforts, may never be fully recognised, but know that everyone is safer because of what you do.

Im hoping that my next post is from a brighter perspective. Maybe, isolation is affecting me. Maybe I’m drifting towards depression. Maybe I need to take a lesson from Wilson, he seems to have the right idea. Until then, Wear your mask! Protect others, as they protect you.
